This is a difficult email to write. Over the last five years, our membership has dwindled. The leadership team has struggled with multiple ideas to increase recruiting and keep the storylines fresh. Unfortunately, we are also competing for members with Harry Potter, Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate and Lord of the Rings groups, just to name a few. With Anne's final Pern book in the works; Todd completing his 5-Pern-book-deal; and no movie or tv series on the horizon, we don't have a franchise to support us any more.
As of December 31, 2007, Moonset Weyr will close. The RP on the 30th is Turns End and it can be our gala farewell party. From now until the end of this year, I would like all of us to celebrate 13 years of consistent writing and roleplaying.
Any copies of files from our Yahoo Groups can be requested directly to me at Weyrwoman@moonsetweyr.org to protect the original author's works. A zipped file of all the RP logs will be available in January 2008. What you do with your characters between now and the end of the year is up to you. The RP/R events already scheduled will remain as part of our last hurrah. I invite each of you to stay with us for the last few months and enjoy our Turns End party on December 30th.
